Water Meter Computer Access

Today marks a significant day if the City of Dubuque's "Smarter Water" Pilot Program. Starting today, those people who have volunteered to participate in the program will be able to go to a website and get information on their water usage. The confidential information will tell the users how much water their household is consuming... each hour, each day, and each week. The system will also issue alerts if it senses leaks or other unusual water usage. Another feature allows participants in the study to compare their usage to others. All information presented on the web site is anonymous, so no one will be specifically identified during the comparisons. The Dubuque City Council will get an update on the Smarter Sustainable Dubuque Smarter Water program at a work session this afternoon... just before this evening's city council meeting.
